UAE's Leadership in Environmental Protection And Securing Future Generations COP28

Abu Dhabi: President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received the team in charge of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) in Qasr Al Bahr Majlis.

During the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed reaffirmed that the UAE's support for global climate action is based on sustainability. His Highness also stressed the importance of increasing worldwide solidarity and cooperation in the quest of practical climate solutions. Members of the National Higher Committee in charge of COP28 UAE preparations attended the meeting.

The COP28 team briefed Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed on the conference preparations and the four pillars of the COP28 Action Agenda, which include accelerating a just and orderly energy transition, fixing climate finance, putting nature, lives, and livelihoods at the centre of climate action, and increasing inclusivity in national climate action.

Sheikh Mohamed stated that by hosting COP28, the UAE is continuing the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan's legacy of environmental stewardship, while also empowering youth, women, and civil society to contribute to mobilising international efforts to combat climate change. Furthermore, Sheikh Mohamed stated that the UAE is inviting the globe to encourage cooperation and cooperative action in collective efforts to accomplish results that benefit the global community. 

In light of the global catastrophe, Sheikh Mohamed emphasised that the COP28 team's efforts to speed effective climate action benefit all of humanity. COP28 will lead the global effort to conserve the planet and ensure the well-being of future generations under the UAE Presidency. Sheikh Mohamed stated that the UAE will use its broad international ties to promote inclusive discourse and cooperation while focusing on realistic climate solutions and encouraging long-term social and economic growth.

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed emphasised the importance of COP28 preparations, stating that the UAE possesses critical capabilities such as modern infrastructure, a commendable track record in sustainability and environmental conservation, recognition as a successful convener of global events, and deep ties with other countries. His Highness praised the COP28 team's efforts in managing the meeting and attempting to fulfil its goals.
