The astronomical projections shared by the Emirates Astronomy Society suggest that the crescent moon of the new month will most likely be sighted on the 27th of May. This means the 28th of May will mark the very first day of the month of Dhul Hijjah.

The Chairman of the Emirates Astronomy Society, Ibrahim al-Jarwan, says Eid Al Adha will most likely begin on Friday, June 6, and end on Sunday, June 8, in the UAE. The official announcement will be made after the moon sighting on the 29th of Dhu al-Qa'dah, which falls on May 27.

The UAE cabinet has already approved a public holiday for the Day of Arafat, followed by 3 Eid Al Adha Holidays from 5 to 8 June. This means the Emiratis will now be able to enjoy a longer 4-day weekend where they can spend maximum time with their families and friends.

Arafat Day

Earlier, we talked about the fact that there are in total of 4 holidays for this Eid. But here we have mentioned only three. The 4th holiday is the day before Eid Al Adha, i.e., on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah.

This day is also known as Arafat Day, which is a key part of the Islamic pilgrimage or Hajj. On this day, Muslims gather on a vast plane in Mecca and focus on prayer, spiritual reflection, and supplication. The holiday of Arafat is also observed in most Muslim countries.

Arafat Day will be on Thursday, June 5, making it a total of 4 holidays for this Eid.
