The UAE unveils new logo of COP28 reflecting 'one world'

The official emblem for the upcoming CoP28 event, set to be hosted by the UAE from November 30 to December 12, was unveiled on Monday by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation. The unveiling of the logo took place at the CoP28 stand during the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, which was hosted at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Adnec). Dr Sultan Al Jaber, the designated president of CoP28 and the Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, along with other senior officials, were in attendance at the event.

The CoP28 logo is based on the concept of "one world," featuring a spherical design in light and dark green. The design includes images of people, renewable energy technologies, wildlife, and nature, symbolizing the wealth of resources and emphasizing the need for innovation to drive sustainable development. The logo serves as a reminder to countries to support urgent climate action.

The CoP28 logo is meant to emphasize that the conference is inclusive of all sectors, including public and private, scientists, civil society, women, and youth. It also conveys the message that the conference will be focused on taking action and achieving results in areas such as loss, damage mitigation, adaptation, and finance.

Dr. Al Jaber said: "We live in one world, a world where we need to collaborate and co-operate like never before to make the transformational progress needed to reach the Paris Agreement. Cop28 will be a Cop for action and a Cop for all, bringing together the global north and south and leaving no one behind."

"Cop28 in the UAE will seek to find global consensus so that we can go further and faster and move from goals to getting it done."

The newly launched CoP28 website and Expo City Dubai will feature the logo. In January, the UAE Presidency of CoP28 announced a leadership team that will collaborate with the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the organizers of CoP27 to plan the agenda for the summit. The UAE is eager to host the world at CoP28 and work towards ambitious outcomes, according to Wam.
